Well it’s been a busy 5 months since our wedding and I’m finally getting around to blogging about it. It’s been published on the Wedding Channel and also on the Wedding Colors blog and seeing that was very exciting, and also an honor to be chosen. Here on my blog, I can tell more of our story.
I want to start by saying this time around was very different in many ways. Our situation isn’t the norm, we didn’t renew our vows, we actually got remarried. This day was so amazing in big part to all we’ve been through together. It’s made us appreciate life more, appreciate each other more and made us stronger. Our first wedding was what originally sparked my interest in getting into the wedding industry. It was a big wedding – 300 guests and it was beautiful but this one…it’s difficult to put into words just how amazing it was. Let me start with the date, it was my grandparents anniversary and they were married just shy of 68 years when my grandmother passed away in 2007. My grandfather passed away 8 months before our wedding, and I was happy that he knew we were getting married on their anniversary, that they were an inspiration to us.
Since this was our second wedding we wanted it to be much different than the first, starting with the number of guests. We already did the big, formal wedding with all the traditional things like first dance, cake cutting, wedding party etc. This time we wanted it much smaller and more casual. We decided to have a tent wedding with a New England style clambake in my parents back yard. We wanted to be with just our family and close friends…those that have been with us through it all, who have helped us, supported us and were truly happy for us. We wanted this to be more of a big, fun celebration.
For anyone that knows me, they know I love details and I wanted this wedding to have a lot of personal, unique details. I also love to create, after all it’s what I do! Lucky for me, my amazingly talented photographer Amanda Considine of Shoreshotz Photography put together some photo collages that are perfect for this blog post. I’ll put all the vendor credits and a link to more images at the bottom of this post. Pretty sure most images are self explanatory but I will share some details about a few photos.
The photo bouquet charm was my way of honoring my grandparents and having them with me as I walked down the aisle. For the colorful signs, I knew what I wanted on the first 2 but wanted to come up with something different for the last one. I think “Eat, Drink & Be Married” is adorable but it’s been around awhile. So I thought about what I wanted our wedding to be, I wanted it to be fun. So “Drink. Dance. Laugh.” is what I decided on, and it’s what everyone did! The lobster bibs…well those were a huge hit with our guests. I wanted something a bit nicer than the plastic bibs so I designed this bib with our monogram, a lobster graphic and a cute saying at the top. I had seen some cute sayings on lobster bibs (Claws for Celebration) but again, I wanted something different so I came up with “Love, Laughter & Lobster”, it was perfect!
For our table cards, instead of table numbers we named them after things that we loved – our favorite sports teams, our summer vacation spot, our Harley’s.. you get the idea. The cookies were AWESOME! Rebecca did a great job as always! I emailed her the lobster bib and the invitation designs and she came up with a few different ideas to tie everything together.
I’ve been asked what my favorite memory was and honestly it’s hard to choose just one. I loved our ceremony, it was truly us. We wrote our own vows which we didn’t share until that day. My brother forgot to silence his phone and it actually rang during the ceremony which was really funny. I couldn’t get Andy’s ring on his finger and he dropped mine, it was just typical us, it was real. Another favorite memory was seeing everyone on the dance floor doing “The Chicken Dance” which was fitting since my Grammie taught my oldest niece (who is now 21) how to do it when she was only 2 years old. Even my Dad was on the dance floor for that one. But If I had to choose just one absolute favorite, I’d have to say it was taking a minute here or there to just look around and take it all in – to see our family, friends and our boys having a great time, laughing and dancing. It all made me feel very grateful for life, love, health and second chances.
